Manage sessions

Use the session rows in the left sidebar to create, open, rename, reorder, and close conversations in the active project.

  1. Inside a project, click New Session in the project’s context menu, or press Cmd + N (New Chat from the File menu).
  2. The new session opens immediately in the chat panel. New sessions land at the top or bottom of the list depending on the New Session Placement setting (default: top).

Click any session in the sidebar to switch to it. The chat panel loads that session’s messages and restores its context.

Hover a session and click the pencil icon. Type the new name and press Enter.

Drag a session or project in the sidebar to reorder it. A thin indicator line shows whether the drop will land above or below the target.

  • Sessions can be reordered within their project only — cross-project drag is blocked.
  • Projects can be reordered freely.
  • The order persists across restarts.
  • Prefer the keyboard? Right-click a session → Move Up / Move Down.

Click the X icon on the session row, or use Close Session in the session’s context menu, or press Cmd + W (Close Tab). Closing moves the session out of the active sidebar (it can be reopened from the Session manager).

For exporting, importing, forking, archiving, or deleting sessions → see Session manager.

When the agent runs several tool calls in a row, Kora groups them under one header with counters such as Explored 2 files, Wrote 1 file, Ran 1 command. Click the header to inspect the individual calls.

Tool groups are collapsed by default.

Shortcut What it does
Cmd + F Open Global Search — full-text search across all sessions
Cmd + Shift + F Open Find in Session — search inside the active session only

Find in Session shows a floating bar at the bottom of the chat with a X of Y counter. Use Enter / Shift+Enter (or Cmd+↑ / Cmd+↓) to jump to the next / previous match.

Global Search opens a modal listing matching sessions with up to 3 previews each. Filter by session state (all / active / closed / archived), browse recent searches, and paginate through results. Click a preview to jump straight to that message.

  • Session list is empty → confirm the project has at least one folder attached; sessions are created inside a project.
  • Renamed session reverts → press Enter to confirm; clicking away without confirming discards the edit.
  • Closed session cannot be found → it is not deleted. Open the Session manager to browse all sessions across projects.
  • Drag does not work → drag is disabled while a context menu is open. Close it and try again.
  • Global Search shows no results → the search index builds from message text, tool names, and tool-call arguments that look like paths. Very recent messages may take a moment to be indexed.
