Configure Cloud Sync

Use Cloud Sync to keep Kora sessions and settings aligned between Macs. Before opening its settings, connect a valid Kora key under Settings → AI Providers → Kora.

Note

Cloud Sync is included with Kora Premium and requires a valid Kora key. See Connect Kora Premium.

Enable synchronization

1. Open Settings → Cloud Sync.
2. Generate a new 12-word BIP-39 passphrase, or paste one you already have.
3. Save the passphrase. Kora stores it in the macOS Keychain.
4. Confirm that the Cloud Sync indicator changes to active.

Add another Mac

1. Install Kora and connect the same Kora key on the other Mac.
2. Open Settings → Cloud Sync.
3. Enter the same 12-word passphrase.
4. Wait for the synchronized sessions to appear.

Retry unsynced sessions

When a session cannot be uploaded because its payload exceeds the server’s size limit, Cloud Sync skips it and lists it in the Unsynced sessions card under Settings → Cloud Sync. Each row shows the session id and its size.

• Select the retry icon on a row to re-queue that session only.
• Select Retry all to re-queue every listed session.
• Both actions run a synchronization immediately after re-queuing.

A session that is still over the limit is listed again after the retry. Export it from the Session manager to keep a local copy.

Download a cloud backup

Download cloud backup saves every session stored on the sync server — from any of your devices — to a folder you choose:

1. Open Settings → Cloud Sync and select Download cloud backup.
2. Pick the destination folder.
3. Wait for the summary line: it reports how many sessions were saved and where.

Each session is decrypted on the Mac and written as one JSON file, together with a _manifest.json. Sessions that cannot be decrypted with the connected passphrase are counted as failed without interrupting the rest of the download.

Protect the passphrase

The passphrase stays on the Mac and is stored in the macOS Keychain. Kora sends encrypted session data, not the passphrase. Keep a separate secure copy: the passphrase cannot be recovered from the synchronization service.

Cloud Sync synchronizes Kora sessions and settings. It does not upload or copy the files in your project folders.

Troubleshooting

• Synchronization doesn’t start → confirm the Kora key shows Valid under Settings → AI Providers → Kora.
• Cloud Sync settings are locked → connect the Kora key first, then reopen Settings → Cloud Sync.
• Lost passphrase → there is no recovery mechanism; without it, Kora cannot decrypt the synchronized session data. A backup downloaded with the wrong passphrase reports those sessions as failed.
• The other Mac shows no sessions → confirm both installations use the same passphrase and Kora key.
